Until the advent of materialism and 19th c. dogma, Western Civilisation was superior to anything Islam had developed. Islam has not aided in the development of the modern world; in fact civilisation has only been created in spite of Islam. Proof of this resides in the 'modern' world and the unending political-economic and spiritual poverty of Muslim states and regions. Squatting on richer civilisations is not 'progress'. Islam is pagan, totalitarian, and irrational.
Quranbrowser.com is a good place to view 'translated' Suras from Arabic into English. It lists many accepted Koranic experts and their translated works, line by line. It is important to note that the Koran does not change all that much no matter who does the translating. Supremacist-racism is hard to 'change' into glowing testimonies of inter-faith love and harmony. Islamophiles who find it necessary to defend the Meccan moon cult, usually wail that any criticism of the Koran is not only an act of apostasy [punishable by death under Koranic law], but also entails the wilful manipulation of what the Koran is 'really trying to say'. Wrong. Muslims, many of whom have no idea about the real Koran, the dichotomy in Koranic law between Muslims [good, to be rewarded]; and Infidels [deviants and perverts who must be destroyed or humiliated]; try to claim that the Koran is 'misunderstood'. Hardly my dear. Given the 1400 year history of Muslim jihad, war, blood-letting, terror and endless violence against the non-Muslims, all emanating from the Koran, Mohammedan 'law' [or barbarism], and taking the earth for the Allah-thing, this argument is as ignorant and immoral, as it is untrue and counter-factual.
Using the above website we can see the following from Sura 80 'He Frowned' as exemplifying the totalitarian creed expressed on every Koranic page. The Quran I use is by Yusuf Ali whose interpretation is accepted as being one of the finest of the Koranic chroniclers:
80:37 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.
80:40 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,
80:41 Blackness will cover them:
80:42 Such will be the Rejecters of God, the doers of iniquity.
On the Day of Judgement, a day that every cult institutes as the penultimate last day of rewards and punishments, the pious Muslim, not the good, the moral, the gracious, the dignified, the Golden-Rule practising Muslim [none of these attributes exist in the Koran], but simply the pious, prostrated, irrational believer of the Allah cult will be rewarded. All others will be 'covered in Blackness'. The Koran makes the Manichean dichotomy between the Muslim believer and the rest of mankind very clear. Infidels will not only be covered in blackness, but they will be punished, humiliated, and tortured for eternity. There is no objective ethical program here. No Golden Rule. No ideas of true limitless charity, gratitude or humanism. It is 'us' versus 'them'. Very simple. Very black and white and very barbarous.
“Woe to man! What has made him reject Allah? From what stuff has He created him? From a sperm-drop: He has created him, and moulded him in due proportion...” [80:17-19]
The useless human is nothing without the Allah-thing, whatever Allah actually is [Baal, Hubal, the Male Moon Deity, Mohammed]. This thing moulded you, and you by yourself therefore have no free-will. Allah made you, he manages you, he owns you. If he or it, wants you face down on the carpet moaning out prayers that is your duty. If he tells you, as he does repeatedly in the Koran and to Mohammed, to kill non-Muslims, view women as sex-slaves, demonize Jews and Christians, and spread his rule over the globe, than that too is your duty. You do what it says. Period. You follow its rules. Period. There is no free-will in the Koran. There is no hint at free will in this Sura. The Unbelievers will be covered in 'Blackness' because Muhammad has rejected their message.
“(He) frowned and turned away, because there came to him the blind man (interrupting)....that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?” [80:1-4]
The Muslim can try to persuade the Unbeliever to follow the Allah and improve his 'spiritual understanding'. But not the reverse. If the Infidel does not convert there is no need to worry. Allah will get him in the end. On the judgement Day, the dialectical power named Al-Lah will punish non-Muslims. There will be only 'profit' for the followers of Mohammed [or is he Allah?]. The rest are damned anyways.
