Until the advent of materialism and 19th c. dogma, Western Civilisation was superior to anything Islam had developed. Islam has not aided in the development of the modern world; in fact civilisation has only been created in spite of Islam. Proof of this resides in the 'modern' world and the unending political-economic and spiritual poverty of Muslim states and regions. Squatting on richer civilisations is not 'progress'. Islam is pagan, totalitarian, and irrational.
‘It is neither hunger nor poverty that has driven us from our land (Arabia). We, the Arabs, are drinkers of blood and we know there is no blood more tasty than that of the Greeks. That is why we have come to spill and to drink your blood.’ Khalid bin al-Walid, the ‘Sword of Allah’.
Imagine if any Christian had stated the above. Howls of rage and declarations of ‘dark ages’. But when a Muslim declares his obsession with drinking Christian blood, that is fine. Christophobia is not only accepted in the ‘modern world’, but positively enforced and enshrined.
Walid was the Jihadi most responsible for the subjugation of Byzantine-Christian Syria and the Levant from 634 to 637 AD. The Black flag of Jihad first appears as a standard in his hands, supposedly given to him by the Jihadist supreme leader, Muhammad. Modern day Muslims venerate Walid, a man who slaughtered, murdered, raped, and whose harem included other Muslim leader’s wives. He was famous for assassinating his rivals. His piety was often open to question and interpretation. He was a thug, a brigand, a mercenary, an immoral and vicious barbarian. A true Jihadi or Ghazi.
Byzantine Syria was a profoundly Christian area encompassing Jerusalem, Antioch and other major centres of the Christian faith. The Byzantine emperor Heraclius had spent a decade on a holy defensive war against the Persians. In 629 AD Heraclius rejected mad Muhammad’s demands to submit his kingdom to the Meccan Al Lah idol and prostate himself to Muhammad. Immediately raids started, led by Walid. At Ajnadayn in Israel the Muslims with Walid in the centre defeated a large 10.000-man Byzantine force. The Muslims turned toward Damascus defeating another Roman force south of the city in 635 AD allowing them to invest and conquer the city. Heraclius assembled an international force of Christians and mercenaries and by 636 AD was ready to take the offensive against the Muslim Jihad.
The Christian Byzantines retook Damascus in 636 and proceeded into Israel. In Muslim chronicles the Eastern Romans are often described as ‘the dogs of Christ’. The Muslim hatred of dogs and animals in general was already embedded in their attitudes and culture. Far from ‘venerating’ the ‘peoples of the book’, the Muslims hated Christians and sought their complete eradication. Muhammad’s final testament adjured the conquering of Constantinople and destruction of the Christian empire. There was no ‘brotherly love’ in the Muslim Jihad. Rape, sex slaves, plunder, money, loot and land were the mainsprings of the Muslim Jihad. As in Span and elsewhere, the allure of a far superior civilisation and its wealth and trade is what attracted the Muslim Jihad – along with beautiful ‘Greek’ women, often portrayed in Arab Muslim writings as lascivious, promiscuous prostitutes.
The Eastern-Roman intention was to eject the Muslims from their previous conquests of 634-635. The Muslims were no longer raiding as in previous years, but were now intent on conquering and settling, with designs on the complete overthrow of Eastern Rome. The two forces met along the Yarmuk river in Syria. The Armenian Christian Vahan, the hero of the Persian wars, led the multi-ethnic Christian army of some 30.000. Walid led the Muslim cavalry with the overall command placed in Abut Ubaida, who possessed a similar force in size to that of the Christians. Any armour worn by the Arabs had been stripped from dead Romans in previous battles, indicating a gross gap in industry and metallurgy between the two civilisations.
The battle lasted some 6 days in late August 636 AD. The heavy Christian infantry and cavalry had severely weakened and eviscerated large swathes of the Arab Muslim centre and left by day 5. However, a sandstorm blew on day 6, allowing the Arabs to charge the blinded Byzantines. The ‘wind of Al Lah’ blew the sand directly at the Christian army, obstructing them from being able to properly organise and fight. The heavy infantry of the Romans was useless in such conditions and the calvary retreated and left the field. The Muslim Arabs surrounded the trapped Christian infantry pushing them towards ridges and ravines which mark the Yarmuk landscape. They launched a night attack and massacred many of the remaining Byzantine heavy infantry.
The result of the Muslim victory at Yarmuk was devastating for world history and civilisation. The highly developed, civilised, and coherent Christian world of the Mediterranean was shattered. Within a few months of Yarmuk, Antioch fell amid much rapine, plunder and enslavement. By November 636 the Muslims were at Jerusalem having burned and pulled down any vestiges of Christianity on the way, including churches, monasteries and even hospitals. Any identification with Christianity marked a building for destruction. Jerusalem fell in the spring of 637 and Muslims violated the women, children and even the Holy Sepulchre, Christianity’s most revered site, which was now turned into a mosque. Tens of thousands of Christians were enslaved. The way to North Africa was wide open. North Africa was densely populated, wealthy, with high outputs of agriculture and industry, with massive libraries, a school system, sophisticated governance and trade systems. The Muslim Arabs would destroy all of this over 2 centuries, and North Africa has never recovered a fact little remarked upon by ‘modern scholars’.
Yarmuk was probably the most important battle in history. It destroyed Mediterranean unity, trade and cultural continuity which had stretched from France to Persia. Industry, raw materials, agriculture and cultural exchanges of all varieties would soon be effaced by the Muslim Jihad. Centres of agriculture, industry, book making and learning destroyed. After Yarmuk, the Muslim Arabs slaughtered and raped their way across North Africa into Spain and southern France. North Africa never recovered, and the unity of Christendom was shattered with a rump in the East around Constantinople, Thrace and Slavonia, and the ‘West’ including states north of Pyrennes and Italy. Civilisation and development was now impaired for over 1000 years as the Muslim Jihad sought to achieve, at the behest of different Muslim empires and entities, the complete eradication of Christianity.

The Muslim Jihad against civilisation and the world at large begins with Muhammad the founder of the Meccan cult. In 610 Anno Domini this deranged and bloody personality began informing his illiterate Bedouin tribesmen that the arch-angel Gabriel had selected him to be this Allah’s messenger. Historically the Al-lah or Lord of Mecca was Baal the moon deity and Muhammad’s family were its caretakers. Over time this Al Lah becomes conflated with an immanent ‘God’ and seeks to replace the Christian ideal of the Holy Trinity. Muhammad’s message was simple, the cult was called ‘Submission’ or Islam. Submit to his Al Lah whatever it might be, and most importantly to its only messenger Muhammad himself.
Forced out of Mecca, fleeing to Medina, Muhammad becomes the dictator of the city-state, forms an army and begins raiding everywhere. His followers increased as brigandage, and larceny brought back plunder and women. To join the cult, all one had to do was recite the Shahada, the first pillar of Islam, literally a sentence fragment, ‘There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger’, which confirms loyalty to the Allah thing and Muhammad. You didn’t need to believe, do much in the way of rituals or oblations, except pray a few times and often in the early years of Muhammad’s cult that was not required.
As Edward Gibbon catalogued, from 622 to 632 AD, Muhammad led or supported an average of 9 raiding expeditions every year. By 632 AD the entire peninsula of Arabia was in the control of his cult. By comparison he had a few dozen mostly familial followers after 12 years of ‘preaching’ in Mecca. War apparently, pays big dividends. Gibbon, ‘(Muhammad) employed even the vices of mankind as the instruments of their salvation, and the use of fraud and perfidy, of cruelty and injustice, were often subservient to the propagation of the faith.’
By 630 AD Muhammad could assemble 10.000 men and march on Mecca. Abu Sufyan, the leader of the Meccans, and once an inveterate opponent of Muhammad, submitted to the Al Lah cult and said the Shahada. He would later become a fanatical Jihadist and murderer of Christians and pagans. The allure of booty, loot, women and power was built into the Jihad from its very beginnings.
The real appeal of Muhammad’s simple message was the compatibility with the uncivilised pagan-tribal nature of Arabian society. In 7th century Arabia one’s loyalty lay with the tribe, mandating a deep-seated enmity of other tribes and groups. Raids between tribes were endless and most tribes such as Muhammad’s were organised within familial lines. Muhammad’s tribe the Quraysh, who ran Mecca, were composed from the same extended familial lines. This pagan-tribal appeal of Submission, in which raiding, brigandage, rape and sexual enslavement were divinely sanctioned explains much of its appeal. The Muslim philosopher Ibn Khaldun (d.1406) described Arab Muslims as the ‘most savage human beings that exist. Compared with sedentary people they are on a level with wild, untamable animals and dumb beasts of prey. Such people are the Arabs’. Hardly a strong endorsement of civilised, religious bearing.
Other uncivilised and pagan tribes were also attracted to Muhammad’s cult. The illiterate, savage Berbers in North Africa became fanatical Muslims invading Spain in the 8th century and again in the 11th and laying waste to much of civilisation in Spain and southern France. The Turks and Mongols likewise embraced the tribal dictates of Muhammad’s primitive cult, with both being uncivilised nomadic, animistic tribes, without any pretence of higher culture. The tribal elements and fiduciary benefits of joining the Jihad were too much to resist. Needless to say, both Turks and Mongols laid waste great swathes of Christian civilisation and territory.
The concept of tribe became the Umma or brotherhood of all Muslims. Muhammad declared in 630 AD after conquering Mecca that ‘a believer shall not slay a believer for the sake of an unbeliever, not shall he aid an unbeliever against a believer’ (example is Koran 4-89, 4-144). The world of the Umma was a stark dichotomy -the supra-tribe of Muhammad against everyone else. Muslims were to become friends with each other to the exclusion of the unbeliever (Ibn Ishaq, 1997, p. 232). The creation of a supra-tribe, supremacist, ‘pure’ and ‘divinely’ sanctioned and supported, gave great energy and confidence to the Muslim Jihad, regenerating itself in violence and blood, as the primitive and savage tribes of the Berbers, Turks and Mongols joined the cult of Muhammad.
Numerous Koranic verses portray the Jihad as the noblest duty of a Muslim. Muhammad stated that ‘Lining up for battle in the path of Allah is worthier than 60 years of worship’. There is a reason why the cult of Islam or Submission does not have monks, monasteries, nuns or convents. The expectation was war, Jihad, and fighting, not praying, prostration and meditation. Muhammad’s Jihad offered not only the Spoils of War (Sura 8 in the Koran), but also an after life of riches and spoils, replete with virgins, young boys, wine and unlimited comforts. It was a win-win for the Jihadi. Die in battle and go to the Muslim-male heaven (nothing similar exists for the Muslim female) to be tantalised by buxom virgins, young boys, food and wine. Or survive and win the battle and satiate your temporal lusts with sex slaves, money, land and loot.
What if a Muslim refused to fight? The Al Lah had a darker and more sinister view of such a person. In Sura 8-15, the Al Lah says that those who don’t fight for the cult will be ‘be tortured like no other sinful human’. If you could not physically fight, you were expected to ‘strive’ or give a greater Jihad, to support the ‘lesser’ or physical-warring Jihad. Money, your property, food, weapons, camels or horses, were expected from those who could not physically saddle up and ride in the Jihad. To further tempt males into joining the cults’ endless, and yearly raiding and warring, the Al Lah promised to commute and expunge all sins and wrong-doings. This was true if you fought and survived, or even more so, if you went on Jihad and perished. For the martyred Jihadi he is, according to Muhammad, precious to the Al Lah, ‘He is forgiven from the first drop of blood (he sheds). He sees his throne in paradise….Fixed atop his head will be a crown of honour, a ruby that is greater than the world and all it contains. And he will copulate with 72 Houris.’ The Houris are supernatural, celestial big breasted nymphs, with ‘wide eyes’, created by the Al Lah as presents and rewards for his deceased Jihadis. That ‘heaven’ for the cult of Muhammad is depicted as a brothel with unlimited food and wine service, and this is unsurprising given the uncivilised and atavistic culture it represents.
Importantly, the Jihadis intentions or Muslimification was unimportant. The only point at issue, was to engage in and support the Jihad. If you didn’t really believe in the Al Lah moon deity or ‘god’, or in Muhammad and kept it to yourself that was fine. Sura 2 depicts Jihad as a business, as a ‘fine loan to Al Lah’ and ‘rejoice in the bargain you have struck for that is the supreme triumph’ (Koran 9-111). For the average tribal male this ‘bargain’ was simply a win-win. If he and the Jihad succeed, he has every chance at becoming wealthy and satisfying carnal lusts with sex slaves. If he dies, he goes to the Muslim brothel in heaven, well-provisioned with targets of lust, food and wine. His piety was unimportant, participating in war was what the Al Lah demanded and rewarded.
Jihad is baked into the Koran and Muhammad’s cult from its inception. Submission or Islam was formed by war and raiding. Its irruption in 632 AD into the Greek-Roman-Christian empire in the ‘East’, created the ‘West’ by destroying 2/3 of Christendom. Christianity in the guise of the Byzantine empire, controlled the Middle East and North Africa, with the Christian Visigoths established in Spain. Within 1 century the Muslims had completely effaced this Christian unity, subjugating most of the Middle East, North African and Spain. The ‘West’ so-called is simply the rump of what had been an extensive Christian empire from Britain to Armenia. Christian groups, churches, buildings, monasteries, libraries, agriculture, industry, hospitals, ports and trade routes were destroyed, taken over, converted or re-directed by Muslims for their own benefit, in their endless Jihad. How many people today know that the term ‘West’ comes from the Middle Ages and means the remaining 1/3 rump of what was once an advanced and vibrant Mediterranean based Christian empire?
If you read Mein Kampf you can't miss the virulent Jew hate, the calls to violence to spread the German-Aryan cult; nor the intolerance against the so-called subhumans which populated Eastern Europe. The program in Mein Kampf is rather clear. Churchill read Hitlers racist-supremacist Bible of Marxist-Nazism and commented that the plan was obvious for all to see. So too was the inevitability of a future war, guaranteed in 1939 by the bankruptcy of the German state.
The Koran is similar to Mein Kampf. The program is rather obvious to any but a delusional multi-culturalist, or those who belong to the anti-American, anti-Western theological movement. The Koran is laced with not only anti-semitic racism, misogny, Jihad, violence, and vituperation against non-beleivers, but it quite clearly demands the annihilation of Christians.
Maybe moderate Muslims and their Marxist-PC cultist enablers can explain the following Koranic injunctions which demand the eradication of Christians:
2:190-193 Fight in the cause of God, those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out: For tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; But fight them not at the sacred Mosque unless they first fight you there; But if they fight you, Slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. But if they cease, God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression."
2:216-217 Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But God knoweth, and ye know not. They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say: "Fighting therein is a grave (offense); but graver is it in the sight of God to prevent access to the path of God, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members. Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be Companions of the Fire and will abide therein.
2:244-245 Then fight in the cause of God, and know that God heareth and knoweth all things. Who is he that will loan to God a beautiful loan, which God will double unto his credit and multiply many times? It is God that giveth (you) want or plenty, and to Him shall be your return.
4:74-77 Let those fight in the cause of God who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter, to him who fighteth in the cause of God, whether he is slain or gets victory, soon shall We give him a reward of great (value). And why should ye not fight in the cause of God and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? Men, women, and children whose cry is: "Our Lord! rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from Thee one who will protect; and raise for us from Thee one who will help!" Those who believe fight in the cause of God, and those who reject faith fight in the cause of evil: so fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan. Hast thou not turned thy vision to those who were told to hold back their hands (form fight) but establish regular prayers and spend in regular charity? When (at length) the order for fighting was issued to them, behold! a section of them feared men as, or even more than, they should have feared God: they say: "Our Lord! why hast Thou ordered us to fight? Wouldst Thou not grant us respite to our (natural) term, near (enough)?" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world: the Hereafter is the best for those who do right: never will ye be dealt with unjustly in the very least!
4:95-96 Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of God with their goods and their persons. God hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath God promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward: Ranks specially bestowed by Him, and Forgiveness and Mercy. For God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
5:51 O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily God guideth not a people unjust.
5:72-73: They do blaspheme who say: "God is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship God, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with God, - God will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrongdoers be no one to help. They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.
8:12-15 Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." This because they contended against God and His Apostle: If any contend against God and His Apostle, God is strict in punishment. Thus (will it be said): "Taste ye then of the (punishment): for those who resist God, is the penalty of the Fire." O ye who believe! when ye meet the Unbelievers in hostile array, never turn your backs to them.
8:37-39: In order that God may separate the impure from the pure, put the impure, one on another, heap them together, and cast them into Hell. They will be the ones to have lost. Say to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them). And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily God doth see all that they do.
9:5 But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (trick in war for deceiving and outwitting the enemy); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
9:14 Fight them, and God will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers
9:20 Those who believe, and suffer exile and fight with might and main, in God's cause, with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of God: they are the people who will achieve (salvation).
9:29 "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the last day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and his apostle nor acknowledge the religion of truth of the people of the Book (the Jews and the Christians) until they pay the Jizya [tax on non-Muslims] with willing submission and feel themselves subdued."
9:41 Go ye forth, (whether equipped) lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle [fight in war], with your goods and your persons, in the cause of God. That is best for you, if ye (but) knew.
9:73 O Prophet! strive hard [wage war] against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell, - an evil refuge indeed.
9:123: O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that God is with those who fear Him.
22:38-39 Verily God will defend (from ill) those who believe: verily, God loveth not any that is a traitor to faith, or shows ingratitude. To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight) because they are wronged-and verily, God is Most powerful for their aid
25:52 So obey not the unbelievers and fight strenuously with them in many a strenuous fight.
47:4 Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been God's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of God, - He will never let their deeds be lost.
48:29: "Those who follow Muhammad are merciless for the unbelievers but kind to each other."
60:4: We have renounced you; and enmity and hatred is begun between us and you for ever, until ye believe in Allah alone
61:9-11 It is He Who has sent His Apostle with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, that he may proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest (it). O ye who believe! shall I lead you to a bargain that will save you from a grievous Penalty?- That ye believe in God and His Apostle, and that ye strive (fight) in the Cause of God, with your property and your persons: that will be best for you, if ye but knew!
66:9 O Prophet! make war on the infidels and hypocrites, and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their abode! and wretched the passage to it!
Seems rather clear doesn't it.
Islam is a poli-cracy whose intent is to impose Sharia Law on all people's and states throughout the world. Sharia Law is a barbaric relic from the 11th century, cemented and codified by Al Ghazali and the Asharite true-believers whose modern legacy is now Sufism and Wahhabism. Far from being 'extremist' the current incarnation of Ghazali's immoderate theology is the true Islam. Kill, enslave, humiliate, tax and dominate all non-Muslims. The program is clear. I am sure that Churchill recognized quite a lot of Mein Kampf in his reading of the Koran.
White Europeans are always condemned for ‘Imperialism’. But not the Arab or Muslim. Islam or Submission is as Christophobic as it is antisemitic. Jihad as the 2nd most important pillar of Submission (the first is to state every day that there is one God but Al Lah and Muhammad is his only messenger), demands the eradication of Christianity. Over 1600 verses state this in various ways. The most lurid Suras are the most important and final, namely, Suras 9, 5, 2, 3, and 8 (a chapter called the spoils of war). They are manifests of war and destruction.
Arab imperialism forever changed history. Between 632 AD when the war-mongering sex slaver Muhammad died, and 750 AD, Christianity lost 65% of its total territory to Muslim imperialism. Most people today just ‘assume’ that the Arab world was ‘always Muslim’. This ignorance grates but is never corrected by Western ‘education’ or ‘academic’ systems. The most vital areas of ancient Christianity were simply abolished, destroyed, eradicated and enslaved or converted to the Meccan moon cult.
The Arab Bedouin, viewed by the Eastern Greek Romans and Persians quite rightly as uncivilised, uneducated and unworthy, found a univocal theology, premised on their pagan past, with the Meccan moon idol or celestial god Baal as its focal point. This Al Lah or Lord of Mecca, Muhammad’s family idol Baal who was the main Meccan deity, provided a galvanising force for Arab tribes to unite and attack the Eastern Christian Roman empire and the Sassanids in Iraq and Persia. This Al Lah promised women, booty, spoils and victory in this life, or upon a Jihadi’s death in battle, a heaven full of houris or young shapely women and boys, endless pleasures. For illiterate tribal men, this was a win-win. Muhammad’s handbook recital or the ‘Koran’, outlined the program, promising for Muslim male Jihadis great rewards, beautiful women especially the highly esteemed and coveted White Greek women, gold, silver, land and the benefits of civilisation. All you had to do was fight for the Al Lah and Muhammad. The handbook of hate, the ‘Koran’ or recital, still remains mute on what the benefits exist for women, other than to be one wife amongst four, and one woman within a group of sex slaves. Modern feminists call this liberation.
The Arab-Muslim Crusade against Christianity
The slaughter of Christians by the Arabs in the 7th century is an untold story. From Arabia to North Africa entire cities and regions were de-populated and hundreds of thousands killed, and similar numbers enslaved. These areas – Syria, the Levant, Egypt and North Africa, have never recovered from the Muslim devastation. This is why they are still largely poor today. The Muslims eradicated most traces of civilisation including irrigation, the wheel, libraries and industry.
Christian monk and priestly chroniclers usually end their commentaries during the Arab-Muslim Jihad during this period with lamentations that it was impossible to fully catalogue the crimes, the brutality, the burnings, the murders and the wanton destruction of Christian civilisation. The large groups of Christians in Arabia were either exiled, slaughtered or forcibly converted to the paganism of Submission by 635 AD. Those who did not convert were forced to pay the Jizya or head tax to the Muslim ruler, and if a Christian could not pay it, they sold their children into slavery. The ‘Ridda wars’ or civil wars in Arabia post Muhammad’s death, resulted in the complete annihilation of any opposition to the Al Lah cult, including the demolition of Christian society. Abu Sufyan a leading opponent of Muhammad in Mecca, once converted became a raging inferno of Muslim Jihad matched only by the ‘Sword of Islam’, the psychopathic Khalid ibn Walid, notorious for his cruelty and lusts.
Yarmuk, the most significant battle in history
After the ‘Ridda wars’ or extermination of internal Arabian opposition, the Muslims invaded the Christian Byzantine empire. In August 636 AD near the Jordan river, occurred the most significant battle in history. The Muslim victory over a coalition of Christian forces, including Byzantine, Armenian, Slavic, Frankish and Norman. At the battle of Yarmuk between 16–20 August 636, the Arabs under Khalid, were victorious, defeating Heraclius the Eastern Roman empire and his coalition. Shortly after this victory the Muslims invaded and controlled most of Syria and the Levant, taking Damascus in 636, with Baalbek, Homs, and Hama following shortly afterwards. The iconographic Christian cities of Jerusalem, Caesarea, and others along the coast of the Levant all fell by 641 AD. In every case, great slaughter followed the Muslim advance and occupation. Churches were burnt, priests and nuns were especial targets for torture, rape and crucifixions, libraries set on fire, and entire areas depopulated with slaves sent to Mecca and Damascus to be sold.
Muslim raids into Armenia and along the ‘frontier’ with Byzantium resulted in widespread depredations. Important cities such as Amorium were completely effaced by the Muslim Jihad, burnt literally to the ground with tens of thousands dead and many more enslaved. Damascus, Jerusalem, Antioch and other major centres of Christianity were likewise assaulted and butchered. The Christian-Roman state had to evacuate entire populations along the new border with the Muslim caliphate, laying waste to the countryside to ensure there was no provender or supplies for the raiding Muslim hordes. Again, many areas have never recovered from this endless 7th century Jihad. Beaten on land, the Christian Romans began a policy of launching raids via sea on the Syrian coast of the caliphate with the aim of forcing the Muslims to defend their coastlines, thus limiting the number of troops available for an invasion of Christian Anatolia or central modern-day Turkey. Unlike Syria with its plains and deserts-which favoured the offensive-the mountainous terrain of Anatolia favoured the defensive and provided a natural border between Christendom and the Muslim Jihad.
Conquest of Egypt: 639–642
The Byzantine province of Egypt held strategic importance for its grain production, naval yards, and as a base for further conquests in Africa. It was a rich, well developed and modern region. Until the Muslim Jihad arrived. Then as in Syria, the destruction was so barbaric, that Egypt never recovered. The slaughter was so immense that contemporary Christian monks chronicling the Jihad despaired of accuracy and the enumeration of the endless atrocities committed against Christianity. The piles of dead, the enslaved, the destroyed cities and agriculture, were too numerous and soul destroying to catalogue in their entirety.
In 639 a Muslim general ‘Amr ibn al-‘As began the conquest of the Egypt on his own initiative. The majority of the Roman forces in Egypt were locally raised Coptic forces, who were intended to serve more as a police force; since the vast majority of Egyptians lived in the Nile river valley which was surrounded on both the eastern and western sides by desert, Egypt was felt to be a relatively secure province. In December 639, al-‘As entered the Sinai with a large force and took Pelusium on the edge of the Nile river valley, and then defeated a Roman counter-attack at Bibays enacting great slaughter in both battles. The Arab forces won a major victory at the Battle of Heliopolis (640), but they found it difficult to advance further because major cities in the Nile Delta were protected by water and they lacked the machinery to break down city fortifications. The Arabs laid siege to Babylon, whose starving garrison surrendered on 9 April 641. The Christian Copts lost hope of receiving reinforcements from Constantinople when the emperor Heraclius died in 641.
The last major centre to fall into Arab hands was Alexandria, which capitulated in September 642. The Muslims burnt down the Christian library in Alexandria, the largest library in the ancient world, with tens of thousands of books lost to the fire. As with all conquests tens of thousands of Christians were raped, killed and sold into slavery. According to Hugh Kennedy, “Of all the early Muslim conquests, that of Egypt was the swiftest and most complete. […] Seldom in history can so massive a political change have happened so swiftly and been so long-lasting.” Conquering the agriculturally important and prosperous area of Egypt and its highly developed corn and wheat production, its urbanised areas and industry, and taking over the Nile and securing the Eastern Mediterranean, greatly truncated the Christian Byzantine empire and broke the central spine of Christianity. The once Roman-Christian Mediterranean was soon to become a Muslim Lake, dividing the ‘south’ of Christendom from its European ‘north. The eradication of trade, commerce, exchange, travel and cultural continuity, not to mention the endless millions of enslaved White Christians over the centuries would have profound impacts on history.
In just 10 years, 30% of Christendom had been reduced by the Muslim Jihad. Worse was yet to come.
