In G.K Chesterton’s biography of St. Thomas Aquinas, which I have just re-read, the claim is made that no philosophical system since the sixteenth century comports itself with what the ordinary person would call ‘common sense’. This is entirely true. Grossly inferior ‘Philosophers’ such as Hobbes, Kant, Hegel, Hume and the ‘moderns’ all premise their ‘scepticism’ on the belief that nothing real exists. They entirely suspend and ignore the reality of the world of the 5 senses. In this vein an egg is not an egg but a chicken, a cat is simply an abstract naming convention for an animal which may or may not exist, and there is no essence to an object and its very being is subject to denial. The cant of Kant et al is infinite in its sophistry and anti-reality. The greatest philosopher in history, greater even than Aristotle, was of course St. Thomas Aquinas, and as Chesterton relates, his vast genius is built upon the solid foundation of reality, logic and common sense. Not so the modern world.
Without the Catholic faith and religion there is no modern world. It is quite as simple as that. The heights of cultural and societal achievement was only conquered by Catholicism. Everything else is either an imitation, forgery, fraud or if positive, built entirely on the edifice of medieval energy and insight. The Catholic faith leads one initially to the truth of God and creation, a God who should be and who is beyond our crude and rough comprehension, limited as we are in both reason and understanding. Alongside God, the Catholic faith requires a belief and affirmation about human reason and the essence of Being. The Catholics preserved the knowledge of classical systems during the Germanic migrations and takeover of the Roman-Greek empire in the West during the 5th and 6th centuries. It was the faith which inspired Charlemagne to create a recrudescence across all of society and dream of a new and much improved Athens. This is the faith that generated modern science, astronomy, mathematics, schooling, universities and sundry inventions from eye-glasses to agriculture and armaments and everything else that built the basis for modernity.
The most remarkable feature ascertained by Chesterton and embedded in the Summa Theologica of St. Thomas Aquinas, is the obvious miracle where Christian revelation manifests an inherent superiority in the natural plane of existence, without neutering, or obstructing reason, and in fact, demands the union of faith and reason. In sum we can say that without faith there is precious little reason, but plenty of obscurantism, paganism, violence and oppression. Without reason, there is no faith, but blind obedience, dogma and ritual. When the two are married as in Catholicism, we have the capability to create, build, discover, invent and know. Our faith is the worthy counsellor, the guard-rail, the brake, the common-sense of our reason.
In the ‘modern’ world, poorly described as such, with its pagan attributes, atavistic impulses, its sacrifices of unborn children, its medical Nazism and disregard for natural immunity, natural law rights and natural freedoms, its drunken screeching about the benefices of totalitarian governance and the usurpation of national cultures; we see the 2000 year old, carefully constructed and beautifully made edifice of Western Civilisation under siege from within and without. Mechanical ‘science’, Benthamite libertinism, the crass and shallow individualism carried to extremes expressed in the ‘rights of men’, the post-modern relativism in which nothing matters or is even really known, are false, repressive, inane idols of pagan practices, hardly more developed in their barren theology than the worship of Baal the storm, fertility or moon God. The modern world denies reality, chromosomes, genders, natural climate processes and objective truth and reality.
What makes the onslaught worse, is that the modern Catholic Church, with a globalist-Pope and corrupt-craven Vatican, is part of the problem. The Church is unwilling to defend itself against the pagan-secularist invasion of our civilisation, it chooses instead to aid its own destruction. Orthodox Catholicism is being expunged at an alarming rate and the infantilisation and Anglicanisation of the Church is being implemented with due haste. The radical negativity of the Church towards its own history and doctrines is barely matched by the secular hatred of the same. The irrational dogmas of the ‘modern age’ divorce faith and reason and indeed, obliterate reason altogether. Freedom of speech, thought, activity and natural law rights to bodily and national autonomy are now the enemies of the globalist-Church hierarchy and its Pope. Pope Leo XIII taught that all laws are divinely premised, as manifested in canon law which connects reason with divine commands and obligations. The current Catholic Church does not believe this, ascribing all power to the secular state, and rejecting the independence and importance of the Catholic faith in people’s lives. If the government says ingest poisons, imprison yourself, stop going to church, and live in fear, the Catholic Church poses no opposition or even mild criticism.
Most recent ‘scholarship’ is restating the obvious that the Catholic Church was the one indispensable organisation in the creation of the modern world. Ironically, this very institution which bequeathed so much, does not believe it contributed anything and demands its faithful to obey the Church of State.
Rome fell in 476 AD due to a combination of economic; political; military and social factors but predominant amongst these was the decline in intelligence and in standards. Political intelligence in ancient Rome fell and collapsed into arbitrary, authoritarian rule, where the political elite could not competently manage the military and social resources of the vast empire. Security was lax and along many of the borderlands of the Roman empire, non-existent. Political leadership was cowardly with long lines of incompetent leaders rendered incapable of implementing needed political and military reform to protect Roman civilization. Social intelligence declined as well. Though Christianity was strong in parts of the empire, and comprised about 50% of the popoulation by 450 A.D., the low pagan standards, the lack of morality and a decline of rationality was a harbinger of political and military decline. The two fed each other. The lack of civic intelligence was directly reflected in the mismanagement of the empire by imbecilic political leaders. The lack of leadership and reform, and the low levels of all standards of conduct, thinking, and morality led to the debauchery of the public intellect. Thus did Rome fall. It was as Gibbon said, ‘not worth defending’. Now the question is – is our own civilization worth defending?
Western civilization has been under attack from globalists, socialists, Marxists and the welfare state for 60 years or 2 generations. It takes only one generation to destroy an ideal and eradicate the vestiges of civilization. We are thus pretty far advanced in the dismemberment of internal standards that guarantee progress and civilization. The all-powerful-state model has led ineluctably to lowering of all standards in public and private life. This is not to glorify repressive Puritanism; abstract fundamentalist Christianity or god forbid, the superstitious and silly paganisms of Native Indians or Muslims. However the all-powerful-state is just as much of a danger to our society and civilization as pagan Hitlerism, godless Communism or cultist Islam.
The state-as-God-complex, epitomizes the internal decline and much like Roman self-immolation it rots the body politic from within, spreading like a cancer until the host gives up and submits to external challengers. In the modern world the most excitable fascism which waits like a jackal for its Western prey to fall to the ground is the evil paganism that informs the fascistic elements of Islam. Islam has its red eye focused on Europe – the ancient cradle of Western civilsation – but the hyena will not be satiated with the creation of only EurArabia. It desires the elimination of all forms of Western civilization. The all-powerful-state is unwittingly aiding Islam in this goal by destroying through the guises of a Corona or Climate fascism, the very foundations of once Christian Western heterodoxy and civilisation.
How does the all-powerful-state, or the state-as-God and the attendant left-liberal orthodoxy aid the enemy of culture and civilized progress?
The omnipotent-omnivorous-state destroys the following important ‘pillars’ of societal development and civilisational creation: individualism; morality; spirituality; capital formation and innovation; high culture; and rationality including the force of reason. Europe is the classic case example of the state’s inimical effect upon the body politic. The state-as-God ideal is based on four faulty premises all of which lead to instability, self-hatred, lethargy and confused morality:
1. Western civilization is loathsome and evil.
2. Only a technocratic elite can safely mange the progress of society to ensure fairness and equality.
3. Spirituality leads to conflict and is unnecessary.
4. There are no standards of right and wrong, good and bad, high and low culture. All is good, all is relative, all is golden.
These premises which govern the welfare state are idiotic. Western civilization and the medeival ideals of our forbears along with Judeo-Christian ethics are the core organizing principles of our civilization and indeed of any civilization worth calling itself one. The institution of the Church has nothing to do with the basic ideals of Christian ethics nor does it negate the spiritual, intellectual and economic advancements given to mankind by the medieval and early modern ears, which were the greatest set of innovations in the history of human development.
The omnipotent-state promulgates that the Catholic Church for instance or the other worldliness of some parts of Christian doctrine, mean that the ethos, the principles and the preachings of Christianity are somehow unworthy. This is dangerous and anti-rational. Christianity is many things but neither Christ nor his main followers wanted a clerical elite [witness the attack by Christ against the moneychangers at the temple who used profits to enrich the clerical elite]; instead they focused on freedom; the eradication of slavery; empowerment of women; and mercy for the poor and sick. Importantly Christianity and Western ethics revolve around rational individuality and the methods to succeed in life and as well as coming to a personal understanding with God and your own existence. Dangerously the state-as-God replaces a spiritual essence, which all humans need to survive, with a belief in a technocratic, all-knowing elite, who 'own the science'. Personal salvation and the individual understanding of spirituality is thus replaced by government dictats. This inevitably leads to lower standards.
When a society has no spiritual faith or higher belief it disintegrates into mysticism or apathy. Thus our Western civ is now a godless hypocritical, and cowardly collection of self-loathers, which allows Islam and pagan cults offering up sacrifices to viruses or climate, step by step to build their mosques and temples over our Churches and freedoms. Unsure of itself and feeling unworthy in the face of those who seem so confident, the West submits, funding mosques which now are the most prominent features of many large European cities including Rome, encouraging Islamic immigration, and funding Koranic schools which teach hysterical anti-Western propaganda. Debasing our energy system with non-Gaia friendly and useless turbines and solar panels, ensuring penury and scarcity. Implementing gender fascism enforced by a useless police corps. The Western self hatred is evident in its submission to Islam and these cults of irrational stupidity through ‘hate laws’ governing all speech that could be ‘hurtful’ to the wonderful paganism of Islam [anti-Jew or anti-Christian hate speech is of course to be applauded and protected], or the various pets of climate and gender fascisms. The state-as-God demands the unfettered arrival of endless Islamic immigrants, as well as funding polygamy and ‘fetching marriages’ to 2nd cousins from the home country. Opposing such policies makes you a racist, fascist and criminal.
Submission to Islam, the Climate cult and the gender fascists, follows a general pattern of decline in Western society as it builds an anti-Christian, anti-rational world. Unfettered Muslim and African invasions, Corona and Climate Change are the hallmarks of this pagan immorality. Clean burning carbon, gas and coal are toxic. Work is eschewed. Profits forsworn. Innovations deemed unimportant. Productivity is not a concern. Welfare, vacation time, and redistribution are the vital keys to living. The rhetoric, the multi-cult technocratic model, and the replacement of high culture with low standards are exalted in an orgy of anti-Westen and anti-Caucasion racism and slander. Genders don't exist. Intelligence and reason are replaced by a mystic belief in the all-powerful state and an acceptance of the crude fascism exemplified by Islam or the Corona-Climate Fascisms.
Rome conquered Europe and fell in a self-flagellation of loathing, low standards and non-existent morality. Freedom has responsibility. Part of freedom is based upon high standards, rationality and knowing right from wrong; good from bad; and having the will to defend the fruits of millennia of labor and experimentation. The 'West' has failed and is now engaged in a civil war of destruction. History repeats and bites.

Russell Kirk and Edmund Burke understood why Christianity was the foundation stone for Western Civilisation, a culture and concept which is now fast imploding and unless real faith is revived and rebuilt; will collapse. They understood why the life, teaching and resurrection of Christ was so vital in the development of society, institutions, and true progress. Kirk and Burke were two of the greatest philosophers and exponents of reality that our civilisation, now debased and effeminate, has produced. They knew that truth and wisdom come from a strong belief, an active belief, a participatory belief, in God and most particularly and importantly, a fear of God. If there is no fear in God almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible, there is no wisdom, no societal structure based on truth, and nor moral or even intellectual order.
God is not Love.
The modern Churches are in main becoming useless appendages of the State. They preach a Beatles melody that God is love, love, love and love is all you need. It matters not what you do or believe. Just love. This is apocryphal, does not comport to the teachings of Christ, nor any of the prophets, is not found in scripture and is not based on common sense, science, or morality. It is the insipid trumpeting of Thomas Paine’s ‘Rights of Man’, in which we should have unlimited rights, be forgiven for unlimited actions and evil intent, and be petted and patted as if God is the loving grandmother in our kitchen baking cookies and telling us in a soothing voice, ‘It is alright dear, you can do whatever you want, be whatever you want, act in any way, and I will forgive you. Here eat a cookie.’ The modern approach to Christianity has little connection with Christianity and is a corrupted version of moral relativity and Enlightenment metaphysical madness.
Christ declared that he came with a sword to divide families and generate conflict. He sought to overturn society and uproot traditional trees. He said that only through him could you understand and see the Father, God almighty, and that he the Christ, was the portal to the immaterial spirit of creation. Without a belief in Christ, you do not pass to the Father. This is clearly stated and demanded. No amount of ‘love’ will allow you to pass that door unless you believe.
Christ did tell his apostles to ‘love one another as I have loved you’, because they were his disciples who did in part, and only in part, believe in who he truly was and in his divinity. He also asked his general followers to love their enemies (Sermon on the Mount), to show those who oppose us kindness, in the hopes of converting their hearts and souls, but he never declared that these enemies would be loved by God, accepted and forgiven. He said nothing of the sort.
Christ preached peace when peace might work, he also preached violence and overturned tables when God was desecrated and abused. He never preached that love is all you need. He did preach that based on actions and remorse you might forgive and show mercy, just as you would ask God for mercy and forgiveness, but you must believe in God and act in accordance with God’s wishes, to demand such grace.
The divine Christ was scourged, beaten, tortured and crucified by the pagan Roman and compatriot Jews in the most violent and bloody manner imaginable, an episode confirming the prophecies and written by his own divine Father. Christ was sacrificed on the exact same day that the Passover lambs were sacrificed in Jewish tradition. He was the final blood sacrifice to God, paying the ransom of the sins of a wayward mankind who defied and still defies God’s word and intent, who still worship their graven images and idols, who still deny the created world and the miracles of life and of God’s handiwork. Those who do not believe are never saved. God does not ‘love’ those who disobey.
And what ‘loving’ Father kills his own son?
How could the Churches preach the happy melody of endless summers of love, when they ignore the wrath, the violence, the omnipotent reach of God? The Old Testament readings on the Easter Vigil include the story of Abraham going to Mount Horeb to sacrifice his only son, out of fear and obedience to God. An angel stays his hand, and a ram is offered instead. Nary a sermon will pick up on the fear of God which compelled a wealthy man to attempt to kill his own son. Yet on Easter, we have God the Father, condemning and allowing the sacrifice of his only son, even as the Christ cries out, why have you forsaken me?
Where is the love in the sacrifice of Christ?
Christ never rebuked or effaced the Old Testament and its code and prophecies. He fulfilled them. He added a new covenant, that amongst Christians, we must love one another, and also love our neighbours be they Christian or not. But to be a Christian is the message. That means following the code and rules laid down by God. It does not mean only love. Love is an additional stricture added to the commandments and expectations given to Christians by God. It is not the only and not even the most important part of the covenant. Fearing God is the most important aspect of Christianity. This fear leads to a moral order, a structure of thinking and activity, which drives progress and invention and creates a better society.
The First Commandment is very clear, you will have no other Gods, but the one true God the Father. Fearing his anger is the basis of Christianity. Disappointing him, the premise of moral order.
The fear of God and Christ’s wrath is what drives both wisdom and ambition. Christ is the door to the Father. The Old Testament commandments must be upheld. The fear of hell and punishment nicknamed Gehenna by the Jerusalem Jews was and is real. If there is no punishment, there can be no reward. In any game if there are no losers, there are no winners. The material energy and physics of the soul must live on. The immaterial spirit and essence of your soul must live on. The proofs and the miracles over 2000 years supporting both hell and heaven are overwhelming and far exceed most modern ‘science’ in their detailed evidence.
Why did a wrathful, vengeful God allow the death of his Son? It was not just to remit and forgive our Sins as a sinful, deviant, unworthy race and species. It was the great example of what is expected. Fear God and even kill your own son out of that fear. Fear God or be damned. Fear God so you can endure the punishments, torture, pain and crucifixions of this life. Fear God and follow his commandments and the model of living exemplified by his Son, so you too may partake of the immaterial eternity awaiting those who are blessed and who understand why God and real faith is so important. Fear God so you too can be resurrected like his son, Jesus Christ.
