Until the advent of materialism and 19th c. dogma, Western Civilisation was superior to anything Islam had developed. Islam has not aided in the development of the modern world; in fact civilisation has only been created in spite of Islam. Proof of this resides in the 'modern' world and the unending political-economic and spiritual poverty of Muslim states and regions. Squatting on richer civilisations is not 'progress'. Islam is pagan, totalitarian, and irrational.
Sura 2 in which 15 % of the text preaches violence against Kufar untermensch can be summarized by 2:216:
216: Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.
2:216 precedes the supposedly tolerant verse of 2:256 in which Muhammad pleads for the safety of his pathetically small group of malcontents, by invoking 'you believe in your god, I will believe in mine'. This was in Mecca during the 'mad poet days' of Muhammad when he was mocked, scorned and eventually cast out as a trouble making lunatic, who disrupted society, trade and peaceful worship at the Kabaa or shrine. 2:256 is of course followed immediately by threats, Jihad, punishment and violence. In other words, you have your religion and I have mine – and mine is superior and will conquer yours.
257. Allah is the Protector of those who have faith: from the depths of darkness He will lead them forth into light. Of those who reject faith the patrons are the Evil Ones: from light they will lead them forth into the depths of darkness. They will be Companions of the fire, to dwell therein (forever).
*In other words, there is no compulsion in religion because those who do not follow Allah are going to be consumed in the Fire reserved for the ones who follow Evil. In other words eternal damnation.
2:257 is certainly emblematic of Koranic fascism. There are 286 verses in this chapter and fully 15% or 44 verses discuss violence, hatred and war against non-Moslems. This is surely a rather immoderate amount. This chapter mimicks the Koran at large, with its usage of words to dehumanize Christian, Jews and Pagans including such niceties as mushrikun, zalimun, fasiqun, mufsidun, and musrifun; or in plain english; criminal, unclean, hypocrites, evil, wrong-doers, satanic and other appellations to cleave the world into 2 camps. The good people of this world are with Muhammad [or the ilah or 'one' which is the same as Muhammad]. The bad people are the criminals, the polytheists, the Jews, the Christians [who are deemed to be satanic polytheists]; and those who reject the Allah cult. It is much easier ot kill Jews and Christians if they are sub-human.
War against them: 9 verses
190: And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors.
Note: This Verse is the first one that was revealed in connection with Jihad, but it was supplemented by another (V.9:36)]. 'Transgress' is hard to delineate since if you keep reading below there seems to be very few 'limits' to fighting and killing the Unbeliever.....
191: And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [or disbelief in Muhammad and Allah] is worse than killing. And fight not with them at Al-Masjid-al-Haram (the sanctuary at Makkah), unless they (first) fight you there. But if they attack you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.
193: And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and worshipping of others along with Allah) and (all and every kind of) worship is for Allah (Alone). But if they cease, let there be no transgression except against Az-Zalimun (the polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.)
216: Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.
217: They ask you concerning fighting in the Sacred Months (i.e. 1st, 7th, 11th and 12th months of the Islamic calendar). Say, "Fighting therein is a great (transgression) but a greater (transgression) with Allah is to prevent mankind from following the Way of Allah, to disbelieve in Him, to prevent access to Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah), and to drive out its inhabitants, and Al-Fitnah is worse than killing. And they will never cease fighting you until they turn you back from your religion (Islamic Monotheism) if they can. And whosoever of you turns back from his religion and dies as a disbeliever, then his deeds will be lost in this life and in the Hereafter, and they will be the dwellers of the Fire. They will abide therein forever."
218: Verily, those who have believed, and those who have emigrated (for Allah's Religion) and have striven hard in the Way of Allah, all these hope for Allah's Mercy. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
244: And fight in the Way of Allah and know that Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
246: Have you not thought about the group of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Musa (Moses)? When they said to a Prophet of theirs, "Appoint for us a king and we will fight in Allah's Way." He said, "Would you then refrain from fighting, if fighting was prescribed for you?" They said, "Why should we not fight in Allah's Way while we have been driven out of our homes and our children (families have been taken as captives)?" But when fighting was ordered for them, they turned away, all except a few of them. And Allah is All-Aware of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).
Note: This might reference self-defence, but the main point is that when Allah tells you to fight, you must, and if you make excuses or 'turn away', you are a Zalimun or wrong-doer.
249: Then when Talut (Saul) set out with the army, he said: "Verily! Allah will try you by a river. So whoever drinks thereof, he is not of me, and whoever tastes it not, he is of me, except him who takes (thereof) in the hollow of his hand." Yet, they drank thereof, all, except a few of them. So when he had crossed it (the river), he and those who believed with him, they said: "We have no power this day against Jalut (Goliath) and his hosts." But those who knew with certainty that they were to meet their Lord, said: "How often a small group overcame a mighty host by Allah's Leave?" And Allah is with As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.).
Note: Allah will support those who fight on his behalf no matter how weak they might appear to be versus their enemies. The above verse pillages the story of David and Goliath to link the Muhammadan struggle with a battle between the ancient Hebrews and Philistines some 1650 years earlier.
Clear enough? Or do we need Phds to reinterpret 'the data' for us, and use Orwellian illogicality to claim that war is peace, Jihad is friendship, fighting is hugging. Islam is a cult dedicated to Jihad and dominating if not killing non-Moslems in the name of the Allah-thing.
The evidence that Allah or 'the Lord', was a moon deity is rather overwhelming. The crescent moon adorns every mosque and flag of Islam. The moon deity Hu'Baal was the chief Lord of Mecca, and Baal is another name for the Babylonian Sin or moon god. Plenty of factual information about Islam's moon god is found here.
To wit: The worship of the moon and its various phases is a well-known historical fact. Hub'Al or Hub Allah, or Hu' Baal, is simply the moon god of Mecca. Baal was another name of the Babylonian moon deity Sin. Baal is often mentioned in the Bible and is linked to evil, including sexual depravity, child sacrifice, bull-worship, polygamy and tyranny.
Moslems are not good with evidence, reality or truth. Muhammad's family were the caretakers of the Baal shrine, and Baal was the Lord or ilah of Mecca, the main idol out of the 360 worshipped by the Meccans. He had a consort [sex slave] named Allat the Sun Goddes and two daughters, Uzza and Manat [Venus and the Moon]. The worship of constellation bodies was a common Near Eastern practice.

scholars argue that the presence of the Moon God in Arabia proves
nothing. Sure - they say, there was Hubal in Mecca and this deity was
worshipped there together with other 360+ gods. This is why Muhammad

There
are however strong arguments against this interpretation.
If it is true that Muhammad abandoned all ancient Quraish deities and Hubal - the most powerful one, why is it that many Islamic rites and customs are the same as the old pagan ones?
The pagan rituals of pre-Muhammadan Arabia were simply codified as 'divinely' inspired by Muhammad. This was the political compromise effected by Muhammad to allow the former pagan Meccans the belief, that they were still worshipping in the same manner as their ancestors.
Muhammad to the Meccans: “Keep your rituals, your rites and even your private beliefs he told them; but only worship the one Allah as the Lord of Lords, the only deity of divine inspiration. And remember most importantly, I am his spokesman, interpreter and only agent on earth. As well, by doing so I will not have my brigands cut off your heads. Oh, and by the way, pay that Zakat tax to the centralizing state power. We need that to fund the Umma, Jihad and public projects.”
Baal is allied with Satan in the Old Testament. When viewing the cult of Islam, its Jihad, its murder, its endless war, its sex trading, its polygamy and sex obsession, its pedophilia, its intolerance, and its hate, it is not hard to see why this association is valid.
Sura 59, reviewed here and here, is a lurid ode to violence and to war against the hated Kufar, in particular the untermensch Jews and Christians. About 2/3 of this chapter is hate speech against non-Moslems. Allah so hates the Peoples of the Book [a pejorative term, not a compliment], that he wills them to be disobedient so Moslems may kill them. When a Moslem executes, crucifies or exterminates non-human filth like Jews or Christians, he is simply doing what the moon deity, ilah or Lord, demands.
059:002: He it is Who caused those who disbelieved of the followers of the Book to go forth from their homes at the first banishment you did not think that they would go forth, while they were certain that their fortresses would defend them against Allah; but Allah came to them whence they did not expect, and cast terror into their hearts; they demolished their houses with their own hands and the hands of the believers [i.e. Muslims demolished Jewish homes]; therefore take a lesson, O you who have eyes!
059:005-008: [59.5] Whatever palm-tree you cut down or leave standing upon its roots [during a Jihad siege], It is by Allah's command, and that He may abase the transgressors.
[59.6] And whatever Allah restored to His Apostle from them you did not press forward against it any horse or a riding camel but Allah gives authority to His apostles against whom He pleases, and Allah has power over all things.
059:014: They will not fight against you in a body save in fortified towns or from behind walls; their fighting between them is severe, you may think them as one body, and their hearts are disunited; that is because they are a people who have no sense.
When Jihad is successful the Allah deity gives to his Moslem warriors booty, plunder and the spoils of war.
[59.7] Whatever Allah has restored to His Apostle from the people of the towns [booty], it is for Allah and for the Apostle, and for the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, so that it may not be a thing taken by turns among the rich of you, and whatever the Apostle gives you, accept it, and from whatever he forbids you, keep back, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; surely Allah is severe in retributing (evil):
[59.8] (It is) for the poor who fled their homes and their possessions, seeking grace of Allah and (His) pleasure, and assisting Allah and His Apostle [booty]: these it is that are the truthful.
The cult of Submission is a cult dedicated to war, booty, sex-slavery, misogyny and Arab-Moslem supremacism. Not a jot or tittle of ethics makes an appearance in this dogmatic fascism.
Huge brains, experts, politicians and the MSM never mention Islam in the same sentence as Jihad, terror, fighting, killing, or murder. For these sundry disciples of cultural Marxism and relativity Islam is a 'religion', meaning by default it preaches peace and tolerance. The fact that nothing in the Koran comports with this simple-minded world-view does not sway the irrational from holding that opinion. Striving or Lesser Jihad, means to use all of one's personal belongings, assets, money, property, self and soul, in order to subdue non-Moslems to the Allah-thing. Muhammadism by its own demands is Manichean and divides the world into 'us versus them'. There is not a single quote from the Koran that anyone can show, in the entirety of a verse and Sura, in which Kufars are accepted as equal, allowed to practice their faith, and are to be left alone. Sura 2-256 is the only example the big brains can come up with, and that myth is debunked here and here.
There are at least 22 Moslem Jihad training camps within the USA which are strategically placed, covering the entire width and breadth of the country. In fact there maybe as many as 45 already in operation. They are military operation sites, with the sole purpose of training Jihadis to either wreck havoc on singular and important sites including infrastructure, or to rise up in a general Moslem uprising. Absurd ? Hardly. The purported 22 will grow to 44 within 10 years, and to 88 within 20. The capital as it were, of the Moslem Jihadi army in America.

Sura 9 is an unholy screed of Jihad. Reviewed here and here, Sura 9, or 'Repentance' demands that Moslems wage war against the Infidel. Over 40% of the text is hate speech against non Moslems. Western academics and politicians deem this a moderate amount.

Jihad, war, killing and attacking the hated Kufar [sub human], is obviously a key demand and pillar of the Allah-Muhammad cult. Your wealth, property, soul and body are to be given over to the Allah-thing in striving and in Jihad. Nothing can be left outside of Jihad. Everything you have must be a part of Jihad. This is what Mein Koran clearly stipulates.
Sura 8 called the 'Spoils of War', reviewed here and here, is a particularly odious incitement to Jihad and the murder of Jews and Christians. Over 40% of the text is hate speech against Jews and Christians. The toxicity of the text is concealed in the rather macabre idea that Allah, or Baal the moon idol of Mecca [ilah means Lord not God], is responsible for the killing of non-Moslems. Moslems might wage Jihad, but they do so because the ilah wills it. The Koran in many places makes it clear that if Moslems do something that they might not like – wage war, commit a homicide, destroy non-Moslem assets – it is not their fault. The Allah-thing is really performing the action. Most psychotherapists would call this dichotomy of personality a clear example of insanity.
008:007: …Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours: Ye wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the Truth according to His words and to cut off the roots of the Unbelievers;-
008:009: …I will assist you [in Jihad] with a thousand of the angels following one another [see 008:012].
008:012: …make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.

008:065: O Prophet! urge the believers to war; if there are twenty patient ones of you they shall overcome two hundred, and if there are a hundred of you they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they are a people who do not understand [in other words, do not understand totalitarian ideologies like Islam].
008:067: It is not fit for a prophet that he should take captives unless he has fought and triumphed in the land…
008:069: Eat then of the lawful and good (things) which you have acquired in war…
008:071-072: [8.71]…He gave (you) mastery over them…[8.72] …struggled hard in Allah's way with their property and their souls [in Jihad], and those who gave shelter and helped [harbored terrorists]-- these are guardians of each other; …and if they seek aid from you in the matter of religion [Jihad against people without a treaty—see next phrase], aid is incumbent on you except against a people between whom and you there is a treaty…
008:074-075: [8.74] (as for) those who believed and fled and struggled hard in Allah’s way [Jihad], and those who gave shelter and helped [harbored terrorists], these are the believers truly; they shall have forgiveness and honorable provision. [8.75] … (as for) those who believed afterwards and fled and struggled hard [Jihad] along with you, they are of you; and the possessors of relationships are nearer to each other in the ordinance of Allah [terrorists have a close relationship with those who harbor them]…
The above verses give Moslems the 'excuse' that the Allah-thing did it. It also justifies Jihad, helping Moslem fascists kill Jews and Christians, and using terror to subdue the Kufar [a subhuman ape and pig in Arabic]. This is why many Moslems invoke the 'Koran-made-me-do-it', within Western legal systems, when they are convicted of Jihad [named 'Terror' by the Western elite]; or are caught 'fighting for the cause of Allah'. Moslems in Western states routinely whine that the Koran and Allah are responsible for barbaric actions, not the individual Moslem. Sura 8 is oftentimes used in this context. In any event it is all about the Jihad.
Sura 5 is the 2nd last 'revelation' of hate speech given by the moon deity Baal, which Moslems call 'god', to his fascist cult's founder, Muhammad. Over a quarter of Sura 5 reviewed here and here, contains hate speech against non-Moslems. Only the media, or Western politicians and 'experts' could 'misunderstand' the words in Sura 5 pertaining to war, Jihad, killing polytheists [Christians who worship the Trinity], or killing the hated Jew.
005:033: “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.”
005:035: …strive hard [at Jihad] in His way that you may be successful.
005:36: As
to those who reject Faith [ie Islam] – if they had everything
on earth, and twice repeated, to give as ransom for the penalty of
the Day of Judgment, it would never be accepted to them. Theirs
would be a grievous penalty.

wish will be to get our of the Fire, but never will they get out
therefrom: their Penalty will be one that endures.
005:082: …you will find the most violent of people in enmity for those who believe (to be) the Jews [compare “ with “whenever Jews kindle fire for war, Allah [Muslims] puts it out” (K 005:064)] and those who are polytheists [while they are converted to Islam on pain of death]…
The theme is rather obvious. All non-Moslems or Kufar untermensch, are the enemies of Muhammad's cult. Killing them for whatever reason is always justified. Any action perpetrated by a Moslem, no matter how pernicious, evil, or mendacious, is divinely sanctioned by Baal and is justifiable. There was a good reason why the Hebrews equated Baal with Satan and evil.....
Sura 4 is like much of the longer chapters in Mein Koran. Full of demands to 'war' against those who oppose the Meccan moon cult of Muhammad. War is the great 'equalizer' in Islam. There is no need to proselytize or go through the long process of peaceful conversion of 'doubters'. Much easier to erase apprehensions about Muhammad's cult by applying a sword blade to the neck of any who resist. You either join the cult as slave of the Allah idol or Baal, or we will kill you. Simple. Sura 4 is a mine of violence and hate. No ethics make an appearance.

Fight, fight, fight. Jews and Christians are Satanic according to Mein Koran, they are Kufar in alliance with evil. This dehumanizing of the Jews and Christians and branding them as devils, makes it far easier to kill them. This after all, is the main point of Mein Koran. Fight, fight, fight. Kill, kill, kill.
Sura 3 is another ode to Jihad. Like much of the Koran, Sura 3 could be classified as hate speech. Its violence and calls to Jihadic war are presented inter-alia, here and here. Over 25% of the Sura is hate-speech against Kufar Jews and Christians. Western 'intellectuals' would state that this proves Islam is a moderate theology of love.
003:121-125: [3.121]…to lodge the believers in encampments for war…[3.123]…Allah did certainly assist you at [the Battle of] Badr…[3.124]…[3.125] Yea! if you remain patient and are on your guard, and they come upon you in a headlong manner, your Lord will assist you with five thousand of the havoc-making angels.
003:140: If a wound has afflicted you (at [the Battle of] Uhud), a wound like it has also afflicted the (unbelieving) people; and We bring these days to men by turns, and that Allah may know those who believe and take witnesses from among you…

Sura 3 discusses the very specific early battles of the Moslem cult. Badr was a victory. Uhud a defeat. It admonishes those men who ran away, or would not fight. It exalts those who perished, dying for the Lord of Mecca, or the ilah, Baal. For these martyrs there will be a provenance of riches awaiting in Baal's heaven. For those who ran away, nothing but shame and eternal damnation. Sura 3 reads like a Bronze aid ode to violence against known enemies. There is nothing spiritual or ethical in this chapter whatsoever.
Moslems have murdered through Jihad and war, some 150 millions. At least as many Jews have been killed by Moslems, as the number gassed by the German Nazis. 10 million or more Christian slaves have been taken over 1400 years, from Russia to Iceland; or the equivalent of the Moslem-brokered Atlantic slave trade of Blacks. The Koran, the Hadith, and Muhammad's own life, make it clear that Islam or Submission, is a cult of war, slavery, death and evil. Read the Koran, read these verses and decide for yourself. 25% of Sura 2 is hate speech. Mein Koran, Mein Kampf. I don't see much of a difference. The intent is rather obvious. Fight the Unbeliever Kufar, until they are dead. 'Striving' means to wage war and fight for Allah, the moon deity of Mecca. The world is split and rendered into 'us versus them'. There is no immanent spiritual program within Islam. It is about violence and blood.
There are 1589 or more verses of Jihad, fighting, warring, attacking, killing, murdering and destroying the Kufar [an unclean subhuman is what the word really means], in the Koran. Jihad is the 6th pillar of Islam. More than 25% of the Koran is about confronting, fighting, or killing the Kufar. In fact the Koran is obsessed with Jews, Christians and Pagans, and proving that the Meccan moon cult is 'greater' than any other theological construct. By logic it is therefore violent and intolerant. Greater Jihad might entail a spiritual struggle. Lesser Jihad promotes warfare. Saying that Jihad is about 'peaceful reflection', is about as intelligent as saying that the Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam.

Only 25% of Mein Koran is Jihadic and by definition Christianophobic! Surely the big brains will call this a 'moderate' amount.
Mein Koran clearly identifies Christians as evil, allied with Satan, stupid, like donkeys, greedy, lazy, untrustworthy, confused, mendacious and deluded. 'Peoples of the Book' is a pejorative phrase denoting the inferior nature of Jews and Christians who had 'strayed' from the 'truth' or Sharia [path] of righteousness. The Allah-thing, or Meccan moon diety Hub'Al, had 'given' the original 'word' to the Jews and their sub-sect the Christians, who went out of their way to pervert, change, and ignore divine 'law'. It was up to the most important human ever – Muhammad – to set things right and get the human race organized. In this vein killing those who did not accept Hub'Al's laws is of course not only acceptable, but mandatory. Jihad is clearly identified in the Koran, in over 1600 verses, as being a 'pillar' of the cult.
The Kufar-hatred is evident in every part and on every page of the Koran. The anti-Christian bile is consistent. There are certainly chapters when the hate-speech is punctuated in both villainy and quantity. Yet the thematic of not accepting Christians and of warring against them in some fashion, or at the very least, separating the 'superior' Moslem, from the untermenschen Christian, is a particular and pulsating charge in Muhammad's handbook of hate. You have to be deluded, fascistic, ignorant or blind not to read the Koran and see the obvious.

In Hitler's Mein Kampf about 20% was dedicated hate speech against the Jews. In Mein Koran, about 25% - or more hate speech than exists in Mein Kampf – is issued against the Infidel Christian. To the really clever big-brains, such supremacist, irreligious, intolerant raving constitutes a 'faith'. So too did Nazism.
Arab and Moslem propaganda make a grand display of the astrolabe, a device used in astronomy and in navigation by mariners, 750 years before the moon-cult of Muhammad, or Muhammadism, was created. Moslems claim that they 'invented' it and as with almost all Moslem claims, it is an entirely false one. Christians had long used the astrolabe before the rise of Muhammadism, and it was a standard feature of the Byzantine Christian navy by 500 AD.
In the mid 6th century, Christian scientist, John Philoponus details the astrolabe in his work; “Concerning the using and arrangement of the astrolabe and the things engraved upon it” (1932) pp.61-81. [Translated by Herbert Wilson Green, d. 1933] Link
“The two straight lines on the plane surface, on which the rule lies, cutting one another in the middle, correspond to the meridian line and the horizon: of these, the one descending from above from the ring whereby we suspend the instrument corresponds to the meridian line in each zone, the other cutting it in two at right angles corresponds to the horizon. On this latter, the one corresponding to the horizon, stands a semi-circle having this line itself as its diameter. This semi-circle corresponds to the hemisphere of the heaven above the earth. This semi-circle is cut in two by the other line, that descending from the ring, which we said corresponded to the meridian line, the cutting taking place by the upper end of the line near the ring. Each of the quadrants on either side has been divided into 90 degrees, on which the index of the rule falls, and thereby we determine the meridian height above the horizon of the sun, or any other star, how many degrees each hour it has been raised above the rising or the setting horizon. The ninetieth degree indicates the Sign at the summit in the case of each House, and the first [degree] what is next to the horizon itself, whether the rising or the setting one, as the using of the instrument will teach us as we proceed. It is not the case, however, that in all astrolabes both quadrants have been divided into the ninety degrees, but only one of them, for one, whichever it happens to be, is enough for our observing. For it is possible to know by either [quadrant] how far the sun, or any other star, has been raised from the setting or from the rising horizon. But that we may find it easy to observe when the instrument is suspended with either hand, in some cases both the quadrants have been engraved.”
More than one astrolabe was in usage reflecting a history of development and adapted necessity. Astrolabes were also of different sizes and shapes, depending on where they were being used. The maturity of this presentation by Philoponus and the obvious intricate development of various forms of the astrolabe instrument, make it rather ridiculous – but unsurprising – that the culf of Muhammad would claim ownership. They do insist after all, that they invented flying and the computer.
According to Moslem propaganda, which all the huge-brains of the world, ardently believe [especially if it denigrates themselves and their own civilization, surely a sign of severe psycho-pathological problems]; Moslems invented inter-alia, the astrolabe. Sadly for the Moslem lovers, the astrolabe was known far in advance of Muhammadism's rise to fascistic pre-eminence in the Eastern Mediterranean. Another fairy tale gone bad.
“An early astrolabe was invented in the Hellenistic world in 150 BC and is often attributed to Hipparchus. A marriage of the planisphere and dioptra, the astrolabe was effectively an analog calculator capable of working out several different kinds of problems in spherical astronomy. Theon of Alexandria wrote a detailed treatise on the astrolabe, and Lewis (2001) argues that Ptolemy used an astrolabe to make the astronomical observations recorded in the Tetrabiblos.[7]
Astrolabes continued in use in the Greek-speaking world throughout the Byzantine period. About 550 AD the Christian philosopher John Philoponus wrote a treatise on the astrolabe in Greek, which is the earliest extant Greek treatise on the instrument.[8] In addition, Severus Sebokht, a bishop who lived in Mesopotamia, also wrote a treatise on the astrolabe in Syriac in the mid-7th century.”
Philoponus was one of the great scientists in history living some 70 years before the rise of Muhammadism. In fact Moslem admirers Islamicized his name, calling him Yahyah al-Nahwi [example on the National Library of Medicine site.] For Moslem lovers this proves that he was Moslem, even though he was an ardent Orthodox Christian living in Alexandria, in the century preceding Mad Muhammad.

According to Graves, John Philoponus was a man who was far in advance of the age regarding science and the mechanics of motion. For instance, Philoponus:
Anticipated Galileo’s theory of inertia by a thousand years (and Galileo spoke highly of him).
Was the first to suggest dropping balls of unequal weight from a tower. Galileo read and praised Philoponus.
Influenced early Muslim thinking about science (for which Islam got credit).
Was an ardent critic of Aristotle on key points, long before Aristotelianism was rejected [the Church never fully accepted Aristotle, see here].
Suggested that the stars are made of the same essential matter as the earth and emit light because they burn.
Believed that different colors of stars are owing to differences of composition.
Attributed to impetus the movement of celestial bodies (Aristotle said angels moved the planets) and argued for void (vacuum) between the stars.
But remember before Plutarch, Voltaire and gabbering Gibbon, all was 'Dark'. Nothing was known. Only Islam and short fat men in periwigs saved civilization.....

From 632 AD to 1099 AD, Moslems slaughtered, conquered, sex-slaved, slave-traded and wiped out Christians and Christianity, from Arabia to Switzerland. Millions were forcibly converted to the moon cult, millions more killed or enslaved. Yet the 1099 re-capture of formerly Christian Jerusalem is portrayed by Western Phd's [pretty happy dudes, piled on high and deep]; as the animating act of Moslem distrust of the West. 400 years after the Moslem Jihad had begun the process of eradicating Christianity, destroying civilization, and effacing Christians and their [to quote the Koran] satan created theology; the Westerners or 'Franks' are to blame for Moslem violence? Anyone proposing this must contain a brain roughly similar to that of an ape. The siege of Jerusalem may have resulted in the deaths of 3.000 Moslems and a few Jews. It was benign by comparison to Moslem atrocities against Christians.
“The crusaders, though, did not kill most of Jerusalem’s inhabitants as historians like Steven Runciman suggest. Translations from documents written shortly after the Christian conquest of Jerusalem prove that to be true. According to the Gesta Francorum, ‘our men took many prisoners, both men and women in the Temple. They killed whom they chose, and whom they chose, they saved alive.’
A letter written by a Jewish Chronicler in the summer of 1100 suggested that there were many Jews who weren’t slaughtered when the Christians captured Jerusalem. ‘News still reaches us that among those who were redeemed from the Franks and remained in Ascalon, some are in danger of dying of want.’
Many Jews and even Muslims were taken as captives. It's quite possible that more were taken captive than killed. The crusaders forced them to collect the bodies, remove them from the city and burn them. Most likely, the crusaders also had their captives rebuild what had been destroyed during the siege.”
The sack of Jerusalem by a Crusading army soon to be caught in a pincer movement by an Egyptian Fatimid relief force, and a Moslem garrison still committed to the fight, had little choice but to eradicate all opposition. The Jews as well, were collaborators with the Moslems. It is all fine and good for fat patty Westerners on their couches to opine the usual platitudes. But after 2 years of fighting Moslems, 50% casualties, the threat of annihilation between a besieged and a coming Moslem relief force, the normal middle age imperatives and laws of 3 days of pillage and plunder most certainly do make the 'sack' of Jerusalem a rather benign and by contrast with Moslem atrocities, rather un-bloody event.
Pathologically ill and untrue 'pop' culture effusions about the Crusades continue to impair a real understanding of their importance and centrality to the basic survival of civilization. Without the Crusades, the 300 years of 'breathing space' they bought, the necessity of confronting the Moslem Jihad with force [a fact lost on most contemporaries]; it is arguable if European civilization – or large parts of it – would have survived as Christian entities. It is highly likely that Islam would have conquered much of Europe without the Crusades, a process which began not in 1095, but in 722 at the battle of Covadonga in northern Spain, a seminal event which stopped the Moslem hordes and began the 1000 year counter-attack against Moslem fascism.
Part of the lurid propaganda against the Crusades is the 'sack of Jerusalem' on July 14th 1099. apparently the Crusaders were wading up to their knees in blood after slaughtering thousands of pious and innocent Moslems and Jews. In order to have blood up to your knees you would need to murder millions, not thousands of course. Besides the fictional hyperbole, about 3000 mostly Moslem men who were still fighting and innocents were killed. But 3000 deaths do not create rivers of blood.
While there is no doubt many were killed, we must not exaggerate what happened. Many inhabitants of the city (including Jews) were not killed but captured and ransomed; others were expelled from the city.181 The idea that this event, which occurred over 900 years ago, is the reason for Muslim hatred of the West is absurd and illustrates a complete misunderstanding of the Crusading movement and its impact on the Islamic world.
It is probable that anywhere from several hundred to 3,000 were slain by the Crusaders.
Compare the 'sack of Jerusalem' to the Moslem sacks of Antioch [1258], Tyre [1292], Constantinople [1453] in which well over 30.000 were butchered and the rest sold in slavery. Zengi murdered a similar total in 1144:
“The Muslim warlord Zengi massacred 6,000 Christian men, women, and children on Christmas Eve 1144 when he conquered the city of Edessa.195 Likewise Baybars, the thirteenth-century Mamluk general-turned-sultan of Egypt, pursued a policy of aggressive jihad in his campaigns against Christian settlements. After conquering Antioch, he ordered the city gates closed and locked with the entire Christian population trapped inside. All were massacred in a bloodbath so repulsive that it shocked even Muslim chroniclers.196” [Weidenkopf, Glory of the Crusades]
So Moslems slaughtering 40.000 at say Antioch or Tyre in 1292, or Constantinople in 1453 is fine. But 3000 or so dead Moslems who in the main were still fighting around the Dome of the Mosque in 1099, well that is just beyond all civilized comprehension....so the claptrap and stupidity of the mutli-culti intones.
In Medieval warfare if a city did not surrender and was taken; there was a 3 day sacrament of pillage, rape and theft. That is what happened. Yes moderns can express horror at this, but comfortable on your sofas, you cannot impose your world view on an earlier age. A city was usually given a choice, surrender now and spare us the costs and blood of a siege, or pay a higher price later. There is something boldly rational, if indeed violently savage about such a policy. Soldiers apparently, do enjoy being paid. Food is apparently indeed scarce during most sieges and yes diseases, most of them water born and related to human excrement, did quite efficiently, wipe out large parts of besieging armies. It is little wonder that a siege once broken, resulted in chaos and plunder. This is not to condone wanton pillage and destruction, but only to state the obvious that it did happen and had nothing to do with the Crusader ethos.
The Christian idea or ideal of war, has no parallel in any other culture. The Christian concept is premised on 2 interlocked parts. First, it must be a 'just' war, a conflict not to engage in wanton, mindless violence; nor to indiscriminately punish and kill. The war must be fought for good reasons and higher purposes including self-defense, going to the aid of brethren being killed and oppressed, expunging an obvious evil. Second, the war must follow certain rules and be sanctioned by moral law. In this vein, war cannot slaughter the innocent, the defenceless, nor engage in 'un-Christian' acts outside the parameters of the rules of warfare. These 2 concepts – a 'just' war and a war which adheres to civilizational attitudes – can be found in Greco-Roman culture as well. Cicero, Livy and others attempted to justify the Roman wars and the attendant Roman empire – even the campaigns of Caesar [the Gaul campaign was one of imperial expansion] – by appealing to the Roman idea of a justified war. We see the same lofty, if at times impossible ideals in Christendom.
Islam is totally different. Any war to spread the Umma of Muhammad is justified. The Koran is quite clear that war must be visited upon those who oppose the cult of Muhammad. This includes Kufars [subhuman Jews, Christians, pagans], those who reject the Koran, and those Moslems who are not sufficiently Islamic enough [apostates]. War can also be justified against those 'who create mischief in the land' [5:33], or who do not submit to Islamic rule. War in other words is a central tenet of Islamic cult practice, it is the 6th pillar of Islam:
“This Christian understanding of holy war differs greatly from the Muslim teaching on jihad. Jihad is incumbent upon all Muslims and is a foundational teaching of Islam. Christian holy war is not incumbent on every believer; indeed, participation in the Crusades was always voluntary, and violence is seen as a necessary evil that can only be entered into for serious and just reasons. Christian teaching even places restrictions on the nature of warfare and on the intentions of those who participate; jihad harbors no such limitations. The main purpose of jihad is offensive through the conquering of territory in order to spread Islam throughout the world; Christian holy war is defensive and primarily involves the recovery of territory lost to an aggressor.
The huge response to Urban’s call at the council of Clermont [1095] is even more amazing when considering the cost to go on Crusade—for a knight, four to five times his annual income.95 Although some modern critics assert that the Crusades were focused on the accumulation of wealth, the historical record shows that the vast majority of those who took the cross suffered financial hardship as result. [Weidenkopf, Glory of the Crusades, p. 19]
Christian Crusaders for example, had to pay their own way to fight to reclaim Christian land, conquered and stolen by Moslems in the Levant. Most of these men would die, and those that didn't had a good chance at going bankrupt. The Moslem Jihad was the contrary proposition. Going from a barbaric culture to conquer more civilized empires, had the opposite attraction. Booty, gold, women, arable land and estates would have been extraordinarily attractive to lure illiterate Bedouin and Arab brigands and thugs to wage war. Muhammad's entire cult was built on war and plunder and the ability to pay his men with sex and money. Without the allure of 'treasure' in the form of valuables, gold, or of female flesh which can be sex-traded, there is no Islam. Period. Thus the tenets of war in Islam are, like the rest of its doctrine, the exact opposite of Christianity.
