Until the advent of materialism and 19th c. dogma, Western Civilisation was superior to anything Islam had developed. Islam has not aided in the development of the modern world; in fact civilisation has only been created in spite of Islam. Proof of this resides in the 'modern' world and the unending political-economic and spiritual poverty of Muslim states and regions. Squatting on richer civilisations is not 'progress'. Islam is pagan, totalitarian, and irrational.
About 600 verses in the Koran, or about 10% of the entire book, discusses slavery and in particular the 3 main forms of slavery within Islam: Moslems as slaves to the Al-Lah idol; women as slaves to their man who is in fact their owner; and Infidels and those captured in war as slaves to the Moslem cult. Nearly 30% or more of Sura 30 named 'The Romans' and reviewed here, is violence and hate speech against the Infidel. The Koran's endless recital of Jihad and intolerance fits in very nicely with a theme of slavery. Violence, 'striving', fighting, humiliating and enslaving women and the Infidel are all mainsprings of the Islamic cult.

Islam is the only 'right' Religion. If you reject any part of Islamic doctrine, or if you worship false idols and images such as the Christian Trinity you are a 'wrong doer' destined for hellfire and punishment. 'The Romans' refer to Christians and the Eastern Roman Empire or Rum of course. These Roman Christians are to be punished for rejecting the Al-Lah idol and cult, and since they are polytheists, the Al-Lah thing has pre-determined their fate to be one of endless torture and humiliation on the Day of Reckoning when Muhammad will judge all humans:

On the Day that the Hour (of Reckoning) will be established, the transgressors will swear that they tarried not but an hour: thus were they used to being deluded! |

The cult of Muhammad wants slaves 'dumb' in submission or Islam to the doctrines found in the Koran, a totalitarian document of unbridled supremacism. Moslem men are expected to own slaves – sex slaves, working slaves, Infidel slaves – as recompense from the all-mighty moon deity, Hub'Al, or the Al-Lah, Lord of the Kabaa:

He sets forth for you a parable from your ownselves, - Do you have partners among those whom your right hands possess (i.e your slaves) to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you? Whom you fear as you fear each other? Thus do We explain the signs in detail to a people who have sense. |

Allah is He Who sends the winds, so they raise clouds, and spread them along the sky as He wills, and then break them into fragments, until you see rain drops come forth from their midst! Then when He has made them fall on whom of His slaves as He will, lo! they rejoice! |
If you are a Moslem you should rejoice that the Al-Lah thing has predetermined your slave-status as a good member of the Muhammadan cult. Anyone who is a slave to Muhammad must rejoice in the status of being a good knave to his cult. What Moslems never explain, and what the Koran ignores, is the obvious question as to why slavery is freedom, knavery is enlightenment, stupid groveling and mindless submission is rational; and why following Muhammad and his moon deity is 'religious'.
