Until the advent of materialism and 19th c. dogma, Western Civilisation was superior to anything Islam had developed. Islam has not aided in the development of the modern world; in fact civilisation has only been created in spite of Islam. Proof of this resides in the 'modern' world and the unending political-economic and spiritual poverty of Muslim states and regions. Squatting on richer civilisations is not 'progress'. Islam is pagan, totalitarian, and irrational.
10 % of the Koran discusses slavery, a rather odd obsession for a cult of 'peace', love and harmony. The most important form of human slavery is of course the slavish devotion to Muhammad through his family Meccan moon idol The Lord, or Al-Lah, which was Hub'Al, the key deity out of the 360 idols in the Kabaa shrine. Al-Lah means 'The Lord' or the deity prima-inter-pares, it does not mean 'God'.
Slavery is always married with violence in cults. Sura 37 or 'Those arranged in ranks' [to battle and kill the Infidel], is no exception. Over 25 % of this chapter preaches violence against non-Moslems. There are 182 verses in this chapter and the offending verses, or some 45 of them include:
9,10,18,20,22,23,31,32-34,38-39,63-71,73,97,98,136,163,170,173,175,176,177,179. The cult of post-modern Marxism and multi-culturalism would deem such an amount of hate-speech as 'moderate' – as long as it is directed towards those 'criminals', the Jews and Christians. I wonder what these geniuses would say if Christian liturgy targeted Moslems with the same level of vitriol and hate:

Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. |

Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). |
Moslems will defeat and kill the Mujrimun Jews and Christians:

Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). |

Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. |

Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). |

And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. |
Why will Moslems be victorious? Because they are the pious cult members and slaves of the Al-Lah aka Muhammad cult:

Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. |

Verily! They were two of Our believing slaves. |

|
Except the chosen slaves of Allah. |
|
|
Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves. |

|
Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). |

"We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" |

And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, |
Anyone who is a slave of Muhammad will prosper [37:111, 122, 128, 132, 160]. The 'right' and the 'pious' will choose to be Muhammad's slaves [169, 171]; which contradicts literally dozens of phrases in the Koran that the Al-Lah thing pre-determines who is Moslem and who is not. These statements that 'we choose' to be slaves of Al-Lah does not support free-will. In fact it is the opposite. These phrases in the context of the chapter, make it apparent that anyone who wants an after-life 'knows' that prostration to Al-Lah is the only path to salvation. Al-Lah determines all. But the 'truth' of Islam is so obvious that even a slave, if he had free-will which he does not, would choose to follow Muhammad's cult.
Slaves and knaves inform cults, not religions.
